WhatsApp 6 digit verification code: WhatsApp recently announced that users will now be able to verify their phone number on WhatsApp just by using the 6 digit security code. According to a report in WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has updated its Android app beta version 2.18.255 and iOS app beta version 2.18.211 for Android and iOS respectively with a “Security code” option. This will be located in WhatsApp’s Account settings menu. According to WABetaInfo, the security code is required for users to verify their phone number. Users will now be able to login to their WhatsApp account directly from their number’s security code. This feature is being rolled out first for users in India, WABetaInfo reports. It also claims that this update will be extended to all users around the world soon.

WABetaInfo, in a blog post, said that WhatsApp has started rolling out the “Login verification” feature that will need the six-digit security code that you get on the registered number. The code will be sent on WhatsApp in a text message and is optional. It should be noted that this security code will be received on your phone as a text message. You can also use SMS to reply to the message with the code. If you want to make a change to your number, you can ask WhatsApp to remove this information from its servers.

In November last year, WhatsApp introduced the ‘Security Key’ to verify your number on WhatsApp. For this, users need to sign up on a website and enter a verification code to verify their number on the app. A security code is sent on your registered number. WhatsApp also allows users to disable this verification feature as well.
WhatsApp on iOS now has this option while Android has had this option since last year. In September, WhatsApp had introduced a number of features including a ‘Delete for everyone’ button and the ability to share link in groups.
